INEWSGHANA.COM - FILTH IN LA
There
is a danger of cholera outbreak as filth continues to engulf some portions of
the La-Agyeman area.
Refuse
generated by residents are not properly disposed off. The area gets flooded at
the slightest downpour of rain.
Some
residents complained that the waste containers often get full rapidly yet,
agents responsible for disposing off the waste from the provided waste
containers seem not to have notice the rapid overflow of the refuse.
Others
also said an amount of money, usually ranging from GHC 10p to GHC 2.00p, is
demanded by voluntary communal labourers at the refuse
dump whenever they want to dump refuse.
The
introduction of the payment of money has compelled some residents to resolve to
dump refuse along the beach at night or at dawn posing a dangerous threat to
the entire inhabitants and holiday makers.
According
to the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, Nuumo
Blafo, filth engulfed in Accra is very high however, necessary measures are
being put in place to eradicate the menace.
He
further stated that there is no record of Cholera Outbreak in Accra.
